Step-by-Step Process of Brewing at River City Brew Works

Brewing beer is an art, a science and a passion all wrapped in one. It requires patience and precision to create the perfect brew. At River City Brew Works, we pride ourselves on creating high-quality, handcrafted beers using only the finest ingredients.

Our brewing process consists of six key steps: milling, mashing, boiling, fermenting, conditioning and packaging.

1. Milling

The first step in our process is milling the grains. We use a mill to crush the grains into a fine powder called grist. This allows us to extract the sugars from the grain during the mashing process.

2. Mashing

Next up is mashing. This involves mixing the grist with hot water in what’s known as a mash tun. The mash rests for about an hour while the enzymes in the grains convert starches into sugars.

3. Boiling

Once our sweet liquid (called wort) has been extracted from the mash, it’s time for boiling where we add hops to impart flavor and bitterness to balance out the sweetness of the malt sugar.

4. Fermenting

After boiling our wort for about an hour and allowing it to cool down we transfer it to fermentation tanks by adding yeast this allows our beer to ferment which converts those sugars into alcohol! At River City Brew Works we have stainless steel conical fermentation tanks ensuring consistent high quality product.

5. Conditioning

After fermentation is complete next stop conditioning! Here we allow our beer additional repose time typically several weeks depending on style and recipe this period can be anywhere from two weeks- 6 months or more!

6. Packaging

The final stage of brewing is packaging or kegging/bottling our finished product! From there its served fresh at one of many local restaurants or bars who have partnered with us here at River City Brew Works!

In conclusion, crafting great brews takes not just skill but also creativity and passion to create unique and delicious beer. And, we believe that our step-by-step brewing process is a testament to that fact. It’s this attention to detail and dedication to creating the best possible product that sets River City Brew Works apart as one of the finest breweries in town!
